Property Policies

Deposit Policy:
All reservations require a deposit equal to 50% of the reservation rate and taxes, due at booking.


Cancellation and Refund Policy:
Deposits are refundable, less $25 processing fee, if cancelled 60 days prior to check in, otherwise deposit is forfeited.


Pet Policy:
New in 2023! Mountain Lake Cottages welcomes you and your dog for an additional $40 per dog per night (plus applicable taxes). Please call the General Manager to register your dog in advance. Service Animals must register with the hotel; however, there is no additional fee. We require all dogs on the property to be on a leash when outside of your cottage.


Smoking Policy:
We are committed to providing our guests and associates with a smoke-free environment. Smoking is not allowed anywhere on the property, inside cottages or on porches. Please inquire where our designated smoking area is located.


Cottage Occupancy:
Guests must check in at the office before occupying the cottage. Cottage occupancy is limited to five persons per cottage. Guests are not permitted to sleep in the loft area (for cottage 3 only).


Prohibited on Property:
All-terrain vehicles, candles and open flames, fireworks, jet skis, and pets are prohibited on property.

Things You Should Know

Boats
Rowboats are available for guest use; all passengers must sign a release form before using. Total weight should not exceed 700 pounds. Please return after use. Oars, life jackets and seat cushions may be borrowed from the area outside the office. There must be at least one throwable floatation device and one life jacket per person on each boat. Children under 12 must wear life jacket while in the boat. Boats may not be used after dark. VT boating regulations may be obtained at the office.

Campfires
We are permitted for a weekly campfire (weather and conditions permitting) during the summer months. Campfires must be staff supervised and can only be in the firepit on the waterfront.

Check Out Procedures
Cottages should be left clean upon departure, with all kitchenware washed and put away. Please remove all food from cabinets and refrigerator and turn off all lights and heat/AC before leaving your unit.

A first-aid kit is available in the office for minor injuries.

Fireplace
Fires in the cottage fireplaces are limited to Duraflame Log use only. Logs are available for sale at the office. Fireplace ashes must be disposed of in designated ash buckets. Each cottage has its own ash bucket and shouldn’t be kept inside or on the porch when hot ashes are in them. Buckets containing ashes should be placed along the edge of the driveway behind your cottage.

Garbage & Recycling
When your trash bag is full, let us know and we will pick it up. You may also bring it outside the office, let us know it is there and we will give you a new bag. Please do not leave any trash bags or food on the porch or outside the cabins. Recycle barrels are on the upper and lower levels for clean glass, plastic, aluminum and metal cans, and paper and cardboard.

Grilling
Grills may be used outside your cottage but are not allowed on the porches. Grill ashes must be disposed of in designated ash buckets. Each cottage has its own ash bucket and shouldn’t be kept inside or on the porch when hot ashes are in them. Buckets containing ashes should be placed along the edge of the driveway behind your cottage.

Ice
Bags of ice are available in the freezer chest outside the office door. You can help yourself at any time. There is an honor system Payment Box located on the wall near the freezer.

Library & Games
We have an extensive take a book/leave a book library located in the Office. Also available are puzzles and games.

Parking
Complimentary parking is available for you with a limit of 2 vehicles per cottage. Please park behind and parallel to your cottage. The grass between cottages is not for parking. The area between cottages 8 and 9 is a designated turn around area. Please ask what spaces are available for parking your boat trailer.

Quiet Hours
Noise audible outside the Property (including music or loud conversation) is prohibited between 10:00 PM and 8:00 AM.

Recreation Area
Children under 12 years old must always have adult supervision at the recreation area. The Tennis Court and Recreation Area are available for your use and should only be used for tennis, racquetball, table tennis and basketball. Please no bicycles, skateboards or rollerblades. White-soled sneakers (non- marking) are the only footwear allowed on the tennis court.

Swimming
There is no lifeguard on our waterfront. Parents are responsible for their children’s safety at all times. Mountain Lake Cottages assumes no responsibility for swimming or boating accidents.
